France: Socialist pre-candidate Martine Aubry and husband summon blogger to appear in court for defamation

European Parliament election, 2009 (France)

I wrote some days ago that some French bloggers had denounced that, Jean-Louis Brochen, the husband of the Socialist pre-candidate Martine Aubry, was the advocate of “Meeting and Dialogue”, an organization close to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that he had also defended other islamists in court. I wrote also that French writer Caroline Fourest had also written about these facts in her book, having been requested by Mr. Brochen to “correct those passages”, something she refused to do.

Both of them have sued a blogger, Francis Néri, because he dared to write that in his blog, adding that those are “rumours“:

Martine Aubry and her husband, Jean-Louis Brochen, have summoned a blogger Strasbourg, Francis Neri, to appear in court for defamation, officials said, Tuesday, Aug. 2, with the entourage of the Socialist candidate in the primary 2012. A retired 71 years says on his blog, “The Development Officer”, he was assigned on Sept. 12 before the 17th Criminal Chamber of the Paris Court, and reproduces the text of the assignment.
She is accused in a post entitled “Martine de Lille” published July 11 on his blog and then removed from it, of spreading rumors about the privacy and the health of the PS candidate, and introduce Mr. Brochen, former lawyer, as “a defender of communal and provocative Salafis”.

On July 8th, Ms. Aubry said she had written to the websites which were spreading such “rumors” to ask them to withdraw these allegations, and it they failed to comply, she would file a complaint. “Since mid-May, we have acted“, it was stated in the entourage of Mme Aubry, “but we do not talk about because it is not a political element.” “This is the procedure,” adding that Mr. Neri had received a request to withdraw (Something that Mr. Neri denies…). France: Socialist pre-candidate Martine Aubry versus Caroline Fourest

Caroline Fourest (ndmg – which is not, at all, a woman on the right) confirmed that Jean-Louis Brochen was the advocate of “Meeting and Dialogue”, which is not for her an “insignificant choice” and said of the association as its principal activity is to disseminate propaganda of sexist and homophobic preachers, who are deniers close to the Muslim Brotherhood. With the blessing of the Green Party of Roubaix, where there are activists of the followers of this school of thought. Caroline Fourest recalls that Jean-Louis Brochen “has been the advocate of Islamists in other cases: a young fanatic who participated in the gang of Roubaix and a case of veiled girls at risk of exclusion from the Lycée Faidherbe in Lille 1994 “. Spain: the Govt wants to forbid religious images in taxis

This verges on obsession… if in the end is true (something that is possible and probable):

Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Rubens)

Image via Wikipedia

It is not uncommon to see in taxis religious images, especially of the Virgin Mary, among the self-employed taxi sector. This tradition continues especially in Andalusia, where the image of a local virgin, as well as of St. Christopher, patron saint of drivers, have become iconic symbols for these workers. Industry representatives have complained that, with the Religious Freedom Act, will be forced to remove religious symbols from their cars. The Government contends that, under the principle of secularism, possession of symbols or clothing that express a religious affiliation in public services be prohibited.
This law prohibits carrying “overt” symbols (ie visible and taken with the intent to be seen) of belonging to a religion. “Instead of banning things that do not harm anyone, the Govt should worry about those who search through Spanish dumpsters for food“,complains Alvaro Sevilla, a taxi driver that has no problem in displaying an image of the Virgen del Rocío over the glove compartment of his vehicle. Like him, his colleagues do not understand a measure that would end a practice of many taxi drivers, so they require “greater flexibility in this regard
“There is no secular symbol that comfors me more than a picture of the Virgen del Carmen”, says Alberto Ibáñez, a businessperson from Cordoba. He remembers excited a serious accident at the entrance of Lucena and in which he was miraculously saved by that image. At least he feels that and hasn’t found any standard secular value that makes he think otherwise. Another partner of the province of Montilla  (Cordoba) recalled that on one occasion, a temporary worker from the Maghreb complained about the presence of a small crucifix with the wheel and for that reason, refused to travel on board in the “blasphemous” vehicle.

Spain: Socialists begin campaign for immigrant vote

The PSOE leadership today is introducing a campaign to encourage 1.7 million immigrants to register and vote at next local elections of May 22, through reciprocal agreements signed since the fall of 2008 with a dozen countries.

The campaign will present the Secretary for International Policy and electoral committee spokesman of the PSOE, Elena Valenciano, and Social Movements and councilor of the opposition in the city of Madrid, Pedro Zerolo. Socialists understand that, in principle, the immigrant vote may be closer to them.

If we consider the last polls [*], with the opposition center-right Popular Party leading by 18,8 points against the socialists, despite the former “low-profiled” opposition, I bet they are going to ask the immigrants for voting them.

[*] With the volatile situation nowadays, we’ll see if they are actually true or not, when the elections come…

Spain: $3b arms deal with Saudi Arabia targeted

This is disgusting. Then they will boast about their pacifism:

Spain’s El Pais newspaper said in a report on Monday that Madrid is trying to reach a deal for the weapons worth three billion euros (4.17 billion dollars) with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the benefit of a subsidiary of Spain in the group of General Dynamics Corps, U.S. defense. The newspaper said without citing the source of the news that Spain hopes to reach a deal to General Dynamics Santa Barbara to sell between 200 and 270 model from the tank (Leopard 2 no) when the Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khaled bin Sultan (what a name) official visit to the country in November.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a key ally of the United States in the Middle East to modernize its military equipment and put the finishing touches on a contract for military aircraft worth $ 60 billion with the United States, which was announced last week.

Acquired General Dynamics, which provides the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan, the weapons company of Santa Barbara manufacturer of the tank from the Spanish government in 2001.

via Spain targets arms deal with Saudi Arabia, three billion dollars.

Those tanks they are selling are from one of the advanced military programs with the latest technology (found), put on hold by the Spanish Government, due to the budget deficit (some Eurofighters are on the list too, while other projects will be abandoned). All of those were made for the required development of the Spanish Army. 😡

PS: Isn’t it clear that Zapatero has Obama as an example? Even when selling weapons! 🙄

Who are in better conditions than four years ago?

Leire Pajín

The new Spanish Minister for Health,Social Policies and Equality, Leire Pajín, has said that “families are in much better conditions now than 6 years ago, because of Socialist policies“.

Opposition MPs have reminded her that “2,5% can’t afford to eat meat nor fish, 7.7% can’t afford to pay the house rent or its mortgage and 37% can’t afford to cope with a unexpected payment“.

But numbers from charity NGO Cáritas are really bad: “In the last two years, the number of users cared for by Cáritas’ hosting net has doubled. In 2007 there were 370,251, in 2008, 633,315 and in 2009 786,273“.

I don’t know what the hell this woman is thinking about. That we are all idiots? Or in the “Socialists” (and other politicians) whose lifes have improved during these past six years?

Well, I guess this guy does not agree with Miss Pajín…

Spain: "Burqa ban hasn’t caused radicalization", Lérida’s Major says

The mayor of Lleida, Àngel Ros, said yesterday in an interview to El món a RAC1 that the Muslim community in Lleida “isn’t in any process of radicalization” after the prohibition, to women wearing the full Islamic veil, of entering municipal facilities. The ban, which also extends to other objects that cover their faces like masks and helmets, has been accepted even by some of the Muslim community. According to Ros, “this has been a clear sign that not everything can be allowed in the integration process.”

the socialist leader believes that “immigration should be controlled because the welfare state can not assume all“, while generating “activity and wealth in countries from where immigration comes from.”
Immigrants must accept the roles of the host society” and understand that “go with the face covered in a civic center is not a sign of coexistence,” he said.

Back in July, he told the Islamic community that the Major’s office wasn’t obliged to give religious communities temples, after the closure of the Mosque from Nord street. Local police have counted 1,200 people going to the mosque, while its capacity was of only 240.It’s “obvious” that if they want to pray at a mosque, the community must meet the conditions and legal regulations“, he added.

The Salafist imam who run the mosque, Abdelwahab Houzi, said that he felt he was being persecuted.
