I normally post bad news, but this seems to be a good one, although I would like to know on what basis they do it.

On July 21, the most respected Kosovo daily, Koha Ditore (Daily Times), reported that two lawyers, a writer, and an ordinary citizen of Pristina, capital of the territory, had commenced civil legal measures against Shefqet Krasniqi, imam of the city’s Grand Mosque, for his hateful remarks about Mother Teresa, made in a sermon two years ago.

At that time, Krasniqi declared that the deceased founder of the Missionaries of Charity, considered the outstanding Albanian personality in recent history, was in “the middle of hell, deep,” because she was not Muslim. Krasniqi further alleged that notwithstanding her celibacy the Albanian nun “could have all the men she wanted,” among other insults.

Anyway, I don’t see this Krasniqi fellow being very supportive of the Alliance of Civilizations and the harmony between religions and so on…

This is kinda weird. I wonder why it took the Muslims two years after the fact to sue the imam? Well, it looks like some Muslims in the world will not tolerate intolerant, hateful remarks toward such a saintly, religious figure. Good news, indeed.

      Hello, Teresa:

I wonder why it took the Muslims two years after the fact to sue the imam?

That is indeed the same question I’m making myself…

      We’ll see what happens…

Can they also go after Christopher Hitchens?

    • Claudia says:

Well, I don’t like Christopher Hitchens (I don’t normally link him as he is really anti-religion, whatever the religion he is referring to) and, in reality, I don’t like limiting freedom of speech, even if it’s used to insult others (remember the Mohammed cartoons).

The reason why I consider this as “good news”, is not that they are trying to prosecute this guy because of insulting Mother Theresa, but because it means that this people are actually assuming that their own can also insult people from other religions (something that is really rare inside the Muslim community, and that being the reason why I said I wanted to know why they were doing it) and because they are actually using legal and legitimate means to tell this guy to stop insulting others (instead of using violence).

Anyway, calling a “fraud” to Mother Theresa, someone who spent her life serving others, specially those who were forgotten by the rest, reveals more about Mr. Hitchens, than about Mother Theresa. ;)
