UK: “Christmas is evil”, Muslim extremists say

Can we imagine what would happen in any Muslim country to some Christians who would make a campaign like this?

Spain: Salafist Imam wants to spread his Islamist police to other cities

Abdelwahab Houzi

Lérida’s imam Abdelwahab Houzi is promoting the deployment of “religious police” in various municipalities, including Olot, similar to the one created in the city under his fanatic preachings. He uses that police to monitor and, where appropriate, punish, even physically, those Muslims who do not meet his fundamentalist interpretation of Islamic law.

… The “religious police“, which has been acting for some time in Lérida, is composed of half a dozen individuals, under the direct orders of the radical cleric. Its mission is to ensure that the Muslim population there, complies fully with established precepts of the Wahhabism, the movement which Abdelwahab Houzi belongs to. Wahhabism is a fundamentalist Islamic ideology, linked to Sunni Islam, and whose origins are in Saudi Arabia. Two of its features are its radicalism and its capacity to expand. For that, they use sources of power they have already achieved. In this case, the mosque used by Hoizi is the one called Ibn Hazm, the most important of Lérida. Although the City Council of the Catalan capital has sealed the mosque for security reasons as it has come to accept in the hours of prayer over a thousand followers, when their capacity only allows 200, the imam has warned that he will build another one with funds from Saudi Arabia and the Alawite regime in Morocco.

Someone saying Morocco is a “moderate” country?

Mr Houzi has also defended polygamy and has made it clear he wants to take advantage of independentist parties to make Islamism grow in Catalonia:

Muslims should vote for pro-independency parties, as they rely on us to get votes. But what they do not know is that, when they let us vote, we’ll all vote for Islamic parties because we do not believe in left and right. This will make us win local councils and from there with the great powers of Catalan autonomy, Islam will begin to be implemented“.

Pakistan: 9-year-old Catholic girl raped by a Muslim

Gulfam (which means “like a flower”) is 9 years old (her surname is not revealed out of respect and decency to the family) and is enrolled in the third grade. She lives in village number 226 in the district of Tehsil Samundari. On 10 December she returned from school and her sister-in-law, wanting to make chapatti (bread used in Pakistan) sent her, along with her cousin of seven years, to collect wood in a nearby sugarcane field. After a short time the child came home and revealed that Gulfam had been taken and dragged by a man into that field. When relatives arrived on the ground they caught the man who abused the child red-handed, who immediately fled. Gulfam’s mother took the girl, half-naked, home. Then the parents went to the police and reported the rape. The man was arrested. But the family is terrified because the village is mainly Muslim. The relatives of the rapist have already tried to intimidate and threaten the family of Gulfam to withdraw the charges. The girl said the man had offered her money and at her refusal, he took her by force, taping over her mouth and raping her. He also told her “not to worry because he had done the same service to other young Christian girls.”

Christmas in Bethlehem: the cross banished from souvenirs

For fear of Islamic fundamentalism, textile workshops in Hebron and Jerusalem, produce and sell T-shirts and other items depicting the Church of the Nativity without the cross. Discrimination and economic crisis are forcing Christians to flee from the Palestinian territories and Israel. The risk is to see a future without Christians in the Holy Land.

In an interview with Samir Qumsieh, director of the Catholic television station Al-Mahed Nativity TV in Bethlehem, (…) he said: “I want to launch a campaign to urge people not to buy these products – he says – because the removal of the cross is an intimidation against Christians, it is like saying that Jesus was never crucified” .

Pakistan: Pakistani Christians to march on Christmas Day against blasphemy law (UPD)

The leaders of the All Christian Parties Conference have decided to take to the streets on Christmas Day to call on the government to repeal the blasphemy law. As the High Court in Lahore prepares to set the date for Asia Bibi’s appeal against her death sentence on blasphemy charges, the controversy over the law continues to fuel intense debate in the country. Islamic parties have already announced a nation-wide strike to protect the law, threatening strong-arm tactics if amendments proposed in a private member bill presented by Sherry Rehman are discussed.

By the way, I also want to remind all my readers about Asia News.it, one of the leading Catholic news websites as Catholic Culture.org. Both of them need money to continue their work. You can donate them as stated in their websites (here and here).

UPD: The marches have been postponed for fear of clashes.

INDONESIA: Christians say no to Christmas protection by Muslim radicals

Indonesian Christians have criticised the Islamic Defender Front (FPI), an Islamic fundamentalist group, for saying that it would protect Christian communities during Christmas celebrations. “Why would this radical group, which is notorious for its anti-Christian violence, want to be so nice to us? We say no to their offer,” a Catholic man from Semarang diocese said.

“Let Christians celebrate Christmas in peace. It is their right and all Indonesian citizens should respect that,” FPI chief Risieq Shihab said during a meeting with Police Chief Timur Pradopo on Tuesday.

Yet, the peace and protection he has in mind would only be for those Christian communities that respect Indonesia’s strict religious laws. For Shihab, his group would stop any Catholic or Protestant celebration held in violation of the law.

Another Christian in Jakarta, anonymous for security reason, said that Shihab’s offer and the FPI’s close ties to police are sound reasons to be concerned. He pointed out that Chief Pradopo was present at the 12th anniversary of the founding of the FPI.

“The extremists of the FPI want to be recognised by other parties, whilst the police uses the group (which claims thousands of members) to improve its reputation with the population,” the source said.

Wikileaks: Poll Shows 40 Percent On U.K. University Campuses Want Islamic Law To Rule

After the Pew Global:

A cable summarized statistics showing a rise in the British Muslim population and increased radicalization there. The cable referenced a poll that showed 32 percent of Muslims on U.K. campuses believe killing in the name of religion is justified, while 40 percent want Muslims in the U.K. to be under Islamic law, or Shariah.

Spain: Muslim Ham-o-phobia update

Spanish ham (absolutely offensive to "Ham-o-phobic" Muslims...)

The Muslim boy who sued his teacher because he was speaking about making Spanish ham, has accused the teacher of telling him to go back to HIS country (they have come from Morocco). I don’t really believe that accusation, although the student’s parents have already announced that they are going as far as it’s needed, because they “don’t want this to happen to another Moroccan or Colombian”. The Prosecutor’s office has already said there is no basis in Spanish law for this action. Anyway there are already people supporting the student “because in the end he is just a boy”.

The teacher, José Reyes Fernández, have told to Spanish newspaper ABC.es what he told the Muslim student: “Firstly, you are not qualified to tell me what I can and I can not talk about in class. Secondly, I do not care about what you eat, or this other one eats at all. Thirdly, the religion you believe in, or is professed by any of the other children, is still less important to me. Fourthly, there are 30 students here, and you must adapt to the 29 remaining, not the other way round. And fifthly, if you do not agree with the teachings and knowledge taught in this center, you always have the choice to walk away to another school. I never said, as claimed by the family, that he had to leave to another country“. He adds: “I just put an example in a context that seemed appropriate, as if speaking of Toledo, I would have thought that their marzipan has a reputation and a student had warned me not to talk about it because he is diabetic“.

The Andalusian Community has supported the teacher, while the Muslim community has said this is “nonsense“. I would say this is something grave, as this student is trying to curtail his teacher’s academic freedom.

Lastly, the Andalusian Teachers’ Association representative, Gonzalo Guijarro, has blamedmulticulturalism” for this “absolute folly“. He adds: “multiculturalism (…) holds that all cultures have equal right to develop public space in a democratic country… This (action against the teacher) has no sense or reason. One thing is that everyone is entitled to follow the precepts of their religion in private and quite another to try to make them prevail in the public sphere. This goes against the most elementary principles of a democratic society“.

Wikileaks: Al-Qaida hatred for Pope caused US worries about Vatican security

Saint Peter's. Vatican City

“Al-Qaida has publicly identified the Pope and the Catholic Church as an enemy (‘Crusaders’), and Vatican City attracts hundreds of thousands of American citizen visitors each year, both tourists and pilgrims,” the cable continued

According to the cable, the head of the Vatican Gendarme Corps Domenico Giani had sought specific security training from the FBI, including explosives ordinance training for Vatican Gendarmerie members at the Quantico Marine Corps base in Virginia. However, the cable reported, Giani has been “reluctant to engage in a comprehensive dialogue with the United States about Vatican capabilities and preparedness to respond to a terrorist attack.”

Well, I agree with the Vatican official in this. If not, I’m sure Wikileaks would have released their capacities “to respond to a terrorist attack”…

Saudi Arabia: Law professor imprisoned and incommunicado for writing about the future of the regime

Mohammed 'Abdullah al-'Abdulkareem

Dr. Mohammed ’Abdullah al-’Abdulkareem, a 40-years-old law professor, married with three children, was arrested on December 5 at his home by four plain-clothed men, believed to be members of the General Intelligence Service (al-Mabahith al-’Amma) of the Ministry of Interior as well as by several uniformed police officers.

According to activists in Saudi Arabia, minutes after his arrest, he called his wife that they were helding him arrested, but would return at night.

He did not return, and since then has been held incommunicado. Saudi activists believe he is in prison in Riyadh Al Ha’ir.

It is not known why he was arrested, but is believed to be related to an article he wrote and published on its Facebook Page on 23November.

In the article, written in Arabic and entitled ”The crisis of political conflict between the ruling factions in Saudi Arabia,” posed the following question: ”Is the continuity of the kingdom, united in an entity subject to the existence of the family [ruling]? “. He answered the question by examining the uncertainty surrounding the succession to the royal family and other institutional processes that affect the future of Saudi Arabia. He didn’t advocate violence in the article or referred to it at all.

They think he may be undergoing torture.

Wikileaks: AL-Qaeda uses Spain to fund Jihad in Afghanistan and Iraq

Glorious  :

Al Qaeda uses the ‘hawala’ network to make transfers without a trace, allowing jihadists to circumvent the system of monetary control. The money is sent to Al Qaeda through shops and call centers.

According to what Spanish officials told diplomats from the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain stands as an important financial center for jihad network through ’hawala’, as published on Friday  By EL País. A fact that, as reported by Spanish officials, can not be avoided.

It is a system of informal Transfers of funds that allows Al Qaeda to operate throughout the world without leaving track of their movements.

In Spain there are various offices that operate in a covert global network. The system is based on trust. There are no accounting records to account for the details of operations.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the self-proclaimed mastermind of the attacks of 11-S, has used the Spanish “halaw” network, reports the newspaper.

Spain: Muslims sue teacher for speaking about ham in class

Spanish ham (absolutely offensive to "Ham-o-phobic" Muslims...)

According to the account of the facts, the teacher was explaining the different climates in a geography class and cited the village of Trevelez due to its cold and dry climate. According to the newspaper account, ”as a story, the teacher told his students that such a climate was conducive to making hams (this refers to the procedure that it’s necessary between the pig is killed and the ham is actually ready to be eaten). Then the student asked the teacher not to speak of hams since it offended him, because he was a Muslim. “

The teacher told the students that in his classes, he did not consider the religion of their students, but apparently the family did not stay at home when they learned the facts, to the extent that they went to the National Police to file a complaint without speaking in advance with the teacher.

According to ”El Diario de Cádiz“, the teacher “is accused of being the author of an alleged crime of abuse of workers, also alleging racist and xenophobic motives. “ His school colleagues can’t believe what has happened and speak about the impeccable record of teaching reported.

Well, I can of course, believe it… and they are absolutely insane. Ham is basic food in Spain. If they don’t like it, they have the frontier open to get back where it’s forbidden

Afghanistan: Red Cross abandons long-time employee Sayed Musa, accused of apostasy

Saed Musa is that ex-Muslim, convert to Christianity, who has been working for Red Cross for 15 years.

Said Musa

International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that the Red Cross in Afghanistan (ICRC) has not intervened on behalf of a long-term employee who was arrested and imprisoned because he is Christian. This, despite that the Red Cross mandate includes “visiting prisoners” and “helping victims of conflict and internal violence, whoever they are.”

UN: Islamic countries continue pushing for blasphemy resolution

Fifty-six Islamic countries, members of the UN, claim that the General Assembly this month shoulc approve a resolution condemning ”defamation of religions”, which restrictsf reedom of expression in the West and spread worldwide the ”blasphemy law“existing only in several Muslim countries. As we remember the ”blasphemy law“ is even more controversial after the sentencing to death of Pakistani Christian Asia Bibi.

The draft UN resolution is sponsored by Pakistan as the country spokesman for the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), the largest pressure group of world from Muslim states.

The initiative has the majority within the Human Rights Council United Nation, where the OIC and its states are the majority among the 47 Council members. For years, at the request of Pakistan, the Council has annually approved a resolution against ”defamation of religions. “

The text was again approved at their request, text in which the UN condemns the criticism appearing in the free press against radical Islam, since the terrorist attack of September 11. The aim of the Muslim states is to find sufficient support in the General Assembly to approve the resolution during the current session.

Secretary of State of the EE-UU, Hillary Clinton, has rejected the Muslim initiative at the UN on the grounds that it is contrary to freedom of expression. U.S. and European governments warn that further legal condemnation of ”defamation of religions“ hides the danger that serve to accentuate the persecution of religious minorities especially against the followers of Jesus Christ.

Saudi Arabia: Father cancels 8-year-old daughter’s marriage

Very good news:

A Saudi father went to hospital with his eight-year-old daughter for medical tests on the girl ahead of her marriage but the management succeeded in persuading him to cancel the plan, a local newspaper reported on Thursday.

Receptionists and nurses at the hospital in the central town of Rass were shocked when the unnamed father requested marriage tests for his daughter, prompting them to inform the management, Kabar said.

“Members of the management talked to the man and tried to convince him that what he was doing is a serious social violation,” the paper said.

“In the end, the man was convinced. He assured the management that he would not let his daughter marry at this age and would allow her to continue her education.”

Now, I hope he keeps his word…

Spain: poll shows citizens against Govt policy on Cuba, Morocco

Good:

The Spanish are not too in tune with the policy the Government is doing in relation to countries like Morocco or Cuba. This is the result of the 25 annual poll of the Elcano Royal Institute Barometer released today. In the survey they weren’t asked on the Executive position about those two particulars, but their responses reflect, among other things, that 80 percent believe that those two countries do not respect human rights and show the people are quite dissatisfied with the attitude of Executive.
